Hello there, fellow bookworms!
In light of the upcoming Thanksgiving, I will be doing today’s The Broke and The Bookish’s Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books I’m Thankful For , though I’ve taken the liberty to include both stand-alones and book series in this list.
I enjoyed so much completing this tag because it really got me thinking and reminiscing about my favorite fantasy worlds, characters, love stories, book boyfriends… It took me back to when I first read them and such was the nostalgia that by the time I was done making the list, I wanted to reread most of them (which is probably not a good idea considering the insane length of my TBR right now).
I would like to point out that I don’t consider every single one of these series/books to be perfect or even deserving of a five star rating. I am grateful to count these books as read because they each came into my life at very specific and crucial moments when I needed other realities to escape to. All of them had an impact on my life, no matter how big or small, and helped shape me into the person and reader I am today. These books introduced me to literature and its different genres, they helped me make friends, they set a standard for what I look for in a friend, in a partner, in life…, they gifted me quotes that I’ve clung to for years, they opened my eyes to so many things, they allowed me to travel without ever moving an inch, they brightened up the little corner of the planet I inhabit, filling it with so many beautiful words.
So, without further delay, and in no particular order, here are the top ten books that I am most thankful for:
1. Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling
2. The Dollangangers Series by V. C. Andrews
These were so amazing to my 14 year old self. They introduced me to the gothic genre.
3. The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini
I read this before Harry Potter when I was in six or seventh grade and I think Eldest was the first book over 500 pages I ever read. Also, it introduced me to fantasy.
4. A Court of Thorns and Roses Trilogy by Sarah J. Maas
5. The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer
I know, I know, I know… Not the best writing, not the best plot, so many flaws… But this was the very start and the very cause for the long spiral I went through of one vampire book after the other. AND my crush on Edward Cullen back then was undeniable and a tad-bit obsessive, although I am now mature enough to admit that if I were to read the books now, I would find him insufferable.
6. Summer Trilogy by Jenny Han
7. Air Awakens Series by Elise Kova
These five wonderful, glorious books contain one of my favorite love stories EVER.
8. A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly
9. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
10. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
What about you? What are some of the books that you are thankful for this Thanksgiving? Are any of them in my list?

I love all the fantasy series. Thanks for the recommendations. Tolkien LOTR would be on my list.

Do you think that Eragon is a book for the young?? I am not quite there haha but I have seen them on sale so many times and I am not sure if I should give it a chance or not hmm
I read Harry Potter for the first time this year and I loved them so much!

I don’t really think Eragon is for people younger than…idk…13, maybe? Because there’s a lot of gory details and stuff. But when I first picked it up, I was just thinking, “Whoa! This book’s about dragons!” and that was enough for me at the time. Now that I’m older there’s so many other things I can appreciate about it. Also, I love how Paolini writes. Totally recommend it for you, if you’re a fan of that genre! And welcome to the HP fandom!!! I’m a Gryffindor, what are you? 😀 😀
