Hey, lovely readers!
In typical me fashion, I am updating my To Be Read list a little too late, seeing as January was over ten days ago. Better late than never, right?
Overall, I think January was a slow month for me in the reading department. Many of the books I picked up I did not finish, either because I wasn’t in the mood for it at the moment or because I simply didn’t see myself liking the story at all. This might have to do with the fact I was suffering from a serious book hangover after reading the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo. The worst thing to do is compare every book you start to the last one you read because you loved it so much. And that is exactly what I was doing! Thankfully, I think February might be a great reading month, what with all the AMAZING new releases coming up!
So, here’s my January month in books:

Audiobooks
Title: The Lonely Hearts Hotel
Author: Heather O’Neill
Narrator: Julia Whelan
Length: 12 hrs and 5 minutes
NOTE: I started this audiobook mid-January and I’m currently about 65% through the book. I am absolutely IN LOVE with this story. So much, that I’m seriously thinking of reading a physical copy in the future.
Did Not Finish
Title: The Bear and the Nightingale
Author: Katherine Arden
Format: Paperback
Note: I stopped reading the book in page 120. I must say it is not a bad book and I definitely will be revisiting it in the future. The first few chapters did not reel me in because I wasn’t in the mood for this specific type of narrative.
Title: The Queen of Cursed Things
Author: S. M. Gaither
Format: E-book
Note: I left this book off at 20%. The plot sounds great but the writing style just failed to capture my interest. Whenever I stopped reading, it took me some time to get back to it because I did not feel the itch to know what would happen next in the story. Granted, I didn’t read too far along and maybe this book just had a slow start before picking up but as soon as I sensed it would take me a long time to finish it I abandoned it. Maybe I will find it in me to give it a second chance someday.
Books finished: 5
DNF: 2
Audiobook:1
Total of words read: 1,685
Hoping to maximize my reading experience this upcoming month, I’ve decided to be very realistic with my TBR pile so I’m bumping down a few books to the bottom of the list in favor of others that are trending right now and I just can’t wait to read.

I saw this book in the store today, The Lonely Hearts Hotel, but I didn’t buy it (I bought 12 more)…was I wrong or was I right? hmmm, have to check it maybe again :))

I wouldn’t want to say you were wrong because who knows? Maybe the other 12 books are way better. All I can say is The Lonely Hearts Hotel is beautifully written and I doubt you’ll regret it if you do happen to check it out someday haha 😀

Great wrap up! I’m sorry you didn’t had a great reading month but I’m glad you read Six of Crows duology. It’s one of my favorite series. You should also check out The Last Magician By Lisa Maxwell. War and WInd is even better than the first book and I hope you enjoy it. I recently bought Diabolic and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.
Anyways, I hope you have a great month and Happy Reading! 🙂

I have Ever the Hunted out from the library, but I know it got mixed reviews, so I don’t know if I’ll actually end up reading it.
